2005 WINNER! - Local history booklet of oral Dreaming stories by Year 6 students. The 38-page colour book tells seven Nadju/Mirning and Nyungar Dreaming stories with illustrations by the students. The students researched the book primarily through interviews with local Aboriginal people. How Frenchman’s Peak Came To Be, The Man Who Became a Seal and Pink Lake are some the stories. Previously these stories were only passed on orally. The books have been distributed to all schools in the Esperance Education District, the Esperance library, local councils and Aboriginal groups in the Esperance region. Castletown plans to continue their PALS work in 2006 by developing a website to record the Dreaming stories.
